FNHA Counselling

Culturally Respectful Support for Indigenous Clients

Healing with Respect, Care, and Understanding

As an Indigenous person navigating life’s challenges, you deserve mental health care that honours your story, your identity, and your resilience. Open Heart Counselling is proud to support Indigenous clients through the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) Mental Health Benefits Program.

We provide virtual, trauma-informed counselling that centres safety, cultural awareness, and compassion. Whether you’re working through grief, trauma, anxiety, or relationship issues, our goal is to walk alongside you on your healing journey—with dignity and care.

What Is FNHA Counselling?

FNHA Counselling is available at no cost to eligible First Nations clients who are registered with the First Nations Health Authority in BC. You do not need a referral from a doctor to begin.

Counselling can support you with:

  • Healing from intergenerational or personal trauma

  • Grief, loss, and family transitions

  • Anxiety, depression, or emotional distress

  • Building identity, self-worth, and confidence

  • Navigating life changes, stress, or isolation

  • Strengthening relationships and communication

What to Expect

From the first session, you’ll be welcomed into a space that values respect, privacy, and cultural humility. Sessions are adapted to your comfort level and may draw from evidence-based approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and mindfulness practices.

We prioritize:

  • Creating safety and trust

  • Supporting your mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being

  • Empowering your voice, choice, and pace in the process

  • Honouring your cultural background and lived experiences
